Philosophy
The staff at John A. Renfro Elementary School is committed to providing a quality learning program for every child.
Renfro School makes a pledge to implement a philosophy of "continued student progress." This is an educational strategy in which the ability of the student to achieve determines the level of instruction and instructional materials introduced and taught. We encourage students to work according to their abilities because students are as diverse intellectually as they are physically and have different backgrounds and experiences.
Each child is a worthy individual and has rights, responsibilities, and privileges. We will try to help each child acquire a sense of self-direction and social responsibility. Learning about things is a natural part of a child's life, and in the process of becoming an adult the better part of learning is done independently.
We make every attempt to see to it that our students have maximum success. Our school is flexible and diverse enough to allow each student to do so. We seek to individualize our experiences of a studen6t's progress as we strive to provide learning experiences for each child.
Students are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility. Every child has ownership at Renfro Elementary School. We want every child to feel that they belong and are an important contributor towards establishing a spirit of cooperation and respect.
