Miss
Linton's Classroom Guidelines ~ Beginning of the Year Letter
I would like to
take the opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you all to third grade. My name is
Barbie Linton, and I am beginning my
11th year teaching
3rd grade at Maryville School. Maryville Elementary is where I completed my student
teaching, which gave me the opportunity to get to know many wonderful people prior to
being hired.
I graduated from Southern Illinois
University (Edwardsville) in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary
Education.
Currently, I
am working on my Masters Degree at S.I.U.E in Instructional Design &
Learning Technology...thesis pending.
I am a native of St. Louis, MO, but I lived in Houston,
Texas, and have lived in Edwardsville, Illinois for about 9 years. Several years
ago, I moved back to STL and reside in Chesterfield!
Charity work is something I enjoy a lot. I currently belong to the 1904 World's
Fair Charitable Foundation. Our mission as a public not-for-profit 501 (C) 3
charitable foundation is to raise funds for the Forest Park ‘beautification
program’ and assist other local charities in their quest to garner financial
support for their specific cause.
If you are interested in learning more about our organization, please visit
www.1904stl.com .
I am looking
forward to working with you all during the 2011-2012 school year. Seeing many
familiar faces is always a lot of fun. I find myself calling some of the
students by their sibling's names. Give me a day or two to get it out of my
system, and I will be
back on
track with the correct name.
I am sure the students
will enjoy all of the hands-on projects and experiences that we will have throughout the
year. Field trips have always been exciting in one way or the other. And, I am
also looking forward to having Grandma Elaine in our
classroom this year. Grandma Elaine will see the kids during centers and help
them with playing educational games. She is very kind and loves the kids as much
as they love her.
Daily assignments will be found on the Homework page of my web site. I will also include news about the classroom and
information about projects. A calendar of events is located on the main page of Unit
10 Web Site.
If you have any questions
regarding homework, classroom policies, or anything else please do not hesitate to contact
me. E-mailing me is the best way to contact me as I check my e-mail on a daily basis.
If you do not get a reply within 48 hours...please send me a reminder to make
sure I received the initial e-mail. Contact information is located on the
"Contact Me" link from my home page.
Always know that you are
welcome to join the class at any time as we could always use additional hands for our
projects...yes, I will put you to work! Please call to set up a time to ensure that we
will be on an ordinary schedule and not off to an assembly or something of that nature.
Again, I look forward to
working with you all this year and enjoying the journey through 3rd grade.
Sincerely,
Miss Barbie Linton
